 Recent thefts

The Paulsboro police department is warning residents to be vigilant about locking their car doors after a rash of thefts from within motor vehicles.  Most of these incidents occurred late at night or early in the morning.

Lock your vehicle doors and remove anything of value.  Thieves have been taking cell phones, I-pods, GPS units, loose change and anything else that may be carelessly left within view.  If you must leave items in your vehicle then you should place them inside of the trunk or at the least out of view of thieves.

At the same time, we are asking that you take the time to assess other areas where you may be vulnerable.  Any items of value left unsecured on your property may be an easy target for thieves.  Unsecured sheds and garages pose another opportunity for thieves.  Often times, garages contain items of value that thieves can quietly slip away with undetected.  Securing your property utilizing locks and other security devices are very good deterrents.  In the quiet of night most thieves will not risk the noise that they would have to make and will move on to an easier target.

At your home please make sure that your windows and doors are locked at all times.  Lights on timers as well a radio or other audible devises give the appearance that someone is home when you and your family are not.  Maintain good lighting on the outside of your home.

For further information on securing your property please reach out for Sgt. Donald Grey or Detective Kille.  Sgt. Grey can be reached through dispatch (856-423-1100) when on duty or by leaving a message with department records personnel during office hours (856-423-1101).  Detective Kille can be reached at 856-423-6222.  Note that you may have to leave a message therefore please do contact police dispatch in the event that your matter is urgent.
